Out of spite, the angry woman outs Jason to his father. Chase continues to show his compassion by being there for him. Realizing that Jason wants nothing to do with her, Tina places the baby up for adoption, but Jason blocks her plans by filing his own papers declaring that he is the father and he has paternal rights.

About the Author
Ms. Ravenheart is new to the literary world, but has had the desire to write since junior high school. She moved from a small town in Iowa in time to start high school in Louisiana. Rachel lost sight of writing as she got bogged down with sports and school. Her dream of being a writer forgotten as she looked to the future to study Political Science with the hope of going to law school when she moved to Texas. To make her way in the world she got wrapped up in the field of nursing when she got a job as a C.N.A. and soon even her dream of law school was forgotten. Strangely, thanks to an injury, she was at home recuperating and was bored when she remembered her love for writing. Never thinking she would ever get published, she began. It was writers like Rob Colton, Mann Ramblings, and Alicia Nordwell that inspired her creativity. She found GayAuthors.org and after some encouragement she decided to post her first story. With the enthusiasm of readers her confidence grew and she took the step to send off her first story to be published. Hopefully, the first of many.

This was a really interesting and sweet read. The sotry of how a law student loses the one brother he had who supported him in every way and loved him unconditionally dies in combat. This older brother, Sam, was part of a tight team who accepted and supported each other unconditionally as well. When Jason loses the brother, he thought he lost all but in fact, he gained more than he expected. Or could chew. He is left a letter to rely on Chase, and he does. What he never expected was to find the love of his life.

This should have read simple the way the plot opened but life gave Jason a twist of fate and he finds himself having more responsibilities and may just lose his chance of becoming the lawyer he always wanted to be. The reason? An unexpected woman comes in pregnant and carrying his child. He wonders a bit but holds on to his responsibilities. When more questions rise and no answers are given, he realizes that he may not have just lost a brother, but he may have lost something else. All throughout his journey, Chase and the rest of the team give him more support and love than he ever imagined. The only hurdle is to find the answers and gain acceptance from his father.

There is a lot going on here, one of them having to rethink because some of what goes on here is no longer the case. DADT is no longer in effect, for one so I did wonder why it was still referred to. Thankfully, it was handled quite well even if I did not agree on the handling. The point of resolution is reached and there is a tentative HEA but I think this is more like an HFN. I need more to really settle on the HEA.

Overall a good, light read to while the time away. Recommended for those who love the joys and angst of men in uniform loving each other in a special way. Add in the joys of fatherhood, then yes, you'll love this.

Needed more emotion

There were things that I loved about this story, and things that just didn’t work. I struggled with how to rate this story, so here goes.

After losing his older brother, the only person besides his best friend Alex who knows he is gay, Jason is heartbroken. He meets Chase, one of his brothers Marine buddies at his brothers funeral and it’s instant attraction The two start seeing each other, but this book is set before the repeal of DADT, so we know this is going to be a problem right off the bat.

I loved the togetherness of this couple. They were there through the good times and the bad for one another. They supported one another, and worked through their issues together. This couple shared a good chemistry and love, even if is was VERY close to instalove. The main characters were well developed. The story was fast paced, but some of the scenes were choppy and felt incomplete. Some scenes ended much too abruptly and jumped ahead to the next scene.

Chase’s Marine buddies were well developed as well, and served as a good support system for the couple.

The plot was intriguing and the premises was good, but the story fell short. I wanted more emotion from the story. More struggle. Solutions to the MC’s situations came much to easily for these characters. I wanted to see sadness and anger and I just didn’t get the emotion I was looking for. Reading this story should have had me in knots, sitting on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, and this just didn’t happen.

I love rearms of endearments in books, if they are used correctly and spaced apart. Jason and Chase discovered the word “babe” and forgot they had names. Terms of endearments are fine to use, but not multiple times in a paragraph, when you are the only two in the room/house, because who else would you be speaking to?

All in all it wasn't a bad read, it just needed more emotion, and some scenes needed reworking.

Fantastic debut novel!

I love it when I read a debut novel that promises a stellar career for a new author. Uncommon Valor is just such a book. Rachel Ravenheart spins a tale of Jason, a young man who has lost his beloved older brother in war, then meets Lt. Chase Johnson, a Marine and the man of his dreams and falls in love. He also is confronted with a situation that could bring more pain than love when Tina, a woman who is a fellow law school student, threatens to destroy the relationship between Jason and Chase.
Jason is gay, as is Chase, but about six months ago Jason had sex with Tina and the result is a pregnancy that Jason did not plan on. Jason doesn’t even remember the night of the baby’s conception, which brings some drama to the story. Another bit of angst is the fact that Jason’s father is unwilling to accept that his son is gay, and severs ties with Jason.
Questions need to be answered, including whether Jason will “do the right thing” regarding Tina and the baby, and whether Tina can be trusted to fulfill her end of the bargain regarding the baby’s future. Can Jason mend fences with his father after the way his father has treated him? And what are Chase’s plans for his own future as well as Jason and Chase’s joint future?
This is a sweet love story that has a number of curves along the path to true love. It can be read in one sitting and has a very satisfying ending for anyone who enjoys reading romance. Some secondary characters help the two men reach their goal of a Happy Ever After but some interfere with their plans. All characters are well developed and the plot flows smoothly from beginning to end. I enjoyed this story and look forward eagerly to the next book by this talented new author.

I felt that there was a lot of unnecessary inner monologue and plot lines. I was upset with how boring the story got. Also there was a lot of sex, but no emotion. How they got from lust to love was not explained. I just did not feel that growth. The one main issue was fixed quickly. I don't know I just didn't feel it. I gave it a three because of the potential, but I will not go forward with the next book.

Another Awsome read about the Russian Mafia! Way to go Bella Rose‼️

This story caught my attention real quick. It's about Yuri, the bodyguard, and Holly, the senators daughter.
Apparently the Senator and Yuri go way back. So when he needed someone to protect his daughter,Yuri was his obvious choice.
Holly has a job, but has to sneak out of the house because her father disapproves of her working. Says he's worried for her safety. But one night the alarm went off as she snuck out the window and ran across the grounds. When she finally snuck back in, she came face to face wi Yuri, in the darkened room,and he held her silent until he was sure she wouldn't scream.
This is just a summery of the first couple chapters. The book can be a stand alone, but there is another book that continues from it. There is a HEA.
The book is full of Hot and Heavy sex scenes. Mafia undertaking. Parental smothering. And wonderfull Love scenes.
I would recommend this to any and all over 18 yrs old.

The book had 1449 locations on my kindle. The book was about a girl, named Hollie and a man, named Yuri. Hollie was a 23 year old, feisty and impulsive girl, who was being raised by her overprotective, congressman, father. Yuri was a handsome Russian body guard, with a past, who was hired to protect Hollie. The book contained some decent sex and oral sex scenes. The characters were ok. The "I love you's" came to soon, with no rhyme or reason, which is always irritating. The book was just boring, with no excitement, no romance, just some very quick sex.

The music is obviously 5 stars, and if you're on this page, you know that.

The book is close. There was obviously great care put into put into the quality of the materials and the layout of the sheet music. People who have played Glass in the past have been challenged by getting lost in the repetition, but big numbered sections make this easy to read and work with.

If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. However, I'd have preferred a spiral bound option and bigger title sections for each etude.

This is fun because finally the etudes are available. I used to have to try to find them online in some sort of weird file sharing sheet music thing, and people would just be all like not even trying to share stuff, or like asking me to like hella give them a bunch of like sheet music that I didn't even have.

Great resource for beginners.

Prior to reading this book my knowledge of leathercraft was just was I did as a Boy Scout - so basically non-existent.

After reading this book I feel I'd be able to complete tasks with a better understanding of the processes used to create quality looking leather projects. This book really is composed of three parts:
1) Tools - it gives a paragraph or two explanation of many of the tool you may need while dabbling in this hobby/art.
2) Method - This section takes you somewhat step by step through the various ways to turn a piece of leather into a functional work of art. It includes guides on staining, dying, stitching, lacing, and most importantly tooling (adding design using stamps and custom patterns)
3) Execution - This section puts part 1 & 2 into practice. It gives a step by step tutorial on building a card case, and a belt. The author did a great job on this section giving a brief overview of the step without fully repeating repeating the method, although referencing the page to visit if you need additional help.

Overall this book is highly recommended by me. It's approximately 200 pages, but with the great illustrations and step by step guides you can easily finish this in an evening and truly get a nice beginners level knowledge on this craft. If you were like me, wanting to see all that was involved with this craft before buying the tools, you can't go wrong picking up this book first.

For reference - I purchased the kindle version and read this on my iPad Mini. In the past I've had issues with reference books with lots of illustration not being formatted well enough to make the book usable as an ebook. This book was formatted exceptionally well and I have 0 regrets about buying the eBook vs the spiral or paperback.

I was really excited about this and when it came it everything I expected. The book gives you great descriptions of what the tools are used for and gives you a couple beginner projects. Book is nicely constructed.

About the Author
Joel Feinberg (Professor Emeritus, late of University of Arizona) was widely recognized as one of America's leading political and social philosophers. Acclaimed both for his ground-breaking scholarship and his exemplary teaching skills, Feinberg published widely on topics such as individual rights, legal theory, capital punishment, the treatment of the mentally ill, civil disobedience, and environmental ethics. Before joining the University of Arizona faculty, he taught at Brown, Princeton, and Rockefeller universities. Feinberg was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 1987-88 to work in Japan and served as chairman of the National Board of Officers in the American Philosophical Association in the mid-1980s. Some of the royalties from Reason and Responsibility have been used to establish the Regents Professor Joel Feinberg Dissertation Fellowship in Philosophy at the University of Arizona.

Russ Shafer-Landau received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona and currently teaches at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he focuses on ethical theory and philosophy of the law. He is the author of THE FUNDAMENTALS OF ETHICS; MORAL REALISM; A DEFENCE; AND WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GOOD AND EVIL? He also serves as series editor for Oxford Studies in Metaethics.

it's really good. It's not dry

For a textbook, it's really good. It's not dry. It is made of short essays and it does not go into too many details. It just gives the information. Weirdest textbook I have every read.

Half The Book is Missing on the Kindle Edition

I bought the kindle edition because this book was assigned as a textbook for my Philosophy class. When I downloaded and opened it up I noticed that half the readings that were assigned to me were actually not in the book at all, instead there was "Text not available due to copyright restrictions" typed up all over dozens of pages.
I think Amazon should at least warn us about this before claiming that an entire book, at almost the same price as the hard copy, is available for digital download.
Needless to say, I am disappointed.

The book itself, however, is a good read, the selected articles are thought provoking and will leave you pondering about the ideas presented for days to come. One of my favorite pieces is John Pollock's "A Brain in a Vat"... too bad that it was also missing from the kindle edition.

I really didn't expect this from a company that I thought to be so reliable and thus (in my opinion and reasoning) gaining huge popularity - but i didn't know that this could happen and, moreover, I didn't know that I didn't know that this could happen.
I just couldn't resist lol

The rental item itself was noticeably used on the outside and somewhat on the inside as well. The textbook itself had some interesting readings and was helpful in learning about the basics of philosophy.

Fantastico!

I hadn't read any reviews and I didn't know anything about the author when I got it on Kindle but a few pages into it and I was really into it. I lived in Milan for eight years- way back in the 60's but I learned a lot about Italian even though I speak the language fluently. Maybe you don't have to be Italian to know and love the language and the people. So if you're going to Italy you must read it and if you've been to Italy you should read it.

An outsider's fascinating attempt to crawl inside the Italian language

Although the book took a while to sink its hooks into me, it succeeded. I had expected a more personal, less historical take on the always fascinating process of diving into another culture. What I got was a meandering path to becoming culturally literate, which can only happen when one has mastered a language.

I ended up thoroughly enjoying the book and thinking how much fun it would be to read a similar book on acquiring English. The outsider's perspective is never completely accurate, but it allows us to see our own culture with new eyes. I would be interested to know if Italians reading the book enjoyed it as much as I did.

Surfing is one of the most exciting and stunningly beautiful sports in the world. The modern surfer on his small plastic board is the product of a fascinating history of development. Nat Young, one of the world's great surfers, has produced an illustrated history of the sport that is the most definitive and authoritative ever published.
This book is the result of a lifetime of involvement with surfing and a deep interest in its history. Nat has had discussions with the greats of the sport, from Duke Kahanmoku through to contemporary stars like Kelly Slater and Lisa Anderson. He tells for the first time the real story behind the remarkable development of what we see as modern surfing in California in the '40s.
Illustrating the book are rare reproductions of early Hawaiian and Australian surfing that have never before been published, and the work of the world's best surf photographers, gathered together in a volume for the first time; a feat remarkable even for a surfer of the authority of Nat Young.
He traces the paths of the development of the sport from the Hawaiian kings through to the cur-rent crop of professionals. Along the way are portraits of some of the remarkable figures that the sport has seen - and it is a field not short of its eccentric stars.

Cool for waxheads and non-surfers alike

Surfing is of course a great pastime, an escapist form of recreation, an artistic expression of the soul, a highly challenging sport for young and old, and... a culture. This book suits both surfers, historians and beachgoers alike.
The history of the sport is curious. The polynesians engaged in it, as described by Captain Cook in 1777. "I could not help concluding that this man felt the most supreme pleasure while he was driven on so fast and so smoothly by the sea." Nat Young the author and former world surfing champion, traces its roots to the modern age of professionalism, commercialism, hippie cultures, with notes on board development, big wave riding, surf safaris, and so on. The book is becoming a little dated in this respect, as there is no toe-ins yet, amongst other things. But there may in fact be a revised edition which has these things-look around.
For the non-surfer there is some great historical pictures and stories. For the thinking surfer there is all this and some great waves. The only drawback for me, is that Nat Young is not a great writer, or narrator. The movie by the same name bears this out. Still, he is original if nothing else, and conveys the nature of surfing very well.
