Peter Leach is seen as the founding father of family business thinking in the UK and pioneered research in the field in the 80's. He founded the Stoy Centre for Family Business, and was previously a partner at BDO LLP. Throughout fisheries processing industries, traditional concepts as "waste" have given way to more prudent approaches, emphasizing total by-product recovery. Feed costs are a major consideration in aquaculture where in some groups, i. e. , salmonids, high protein-containing feeds using quality fish meal, can account for as much as 40 to 60% of production costs.

This would be the period after his trial and acquittal in Rome and before his return to Rome to cast his fate with his many converts. These were his Christian brethren who were being put to death by the thousands during the reign of Emperor Nero. It would be reasonable to assume that during this period Paul visited Spain as he had planned (Rom. 15:28) and perhaps re-visited some of the churches in Asia Minor. But Paul had expressed a desire to preach the Gospel to those whom the name of Christ was not known. There can be no question that Paul had heard of the "Tin Islands" because the Romans had already conquered the greater part of Britain. The apostle could have met many in Rome and elsewhere who had been there either as traders or with the Roman army. Having journeyed so near to Britain as Spain and Gaul it is altogether reasonable to suppose that Paul would have made the short voyage across the English Channel. Stapleback - 2009 Edition 56 pages

One more interesting fact is this writing is written in the same "manner" as Acts, many other interesting points are made for authenticty of this writing and the reasons as for it not being published are also pointed out. If you do not believe that this is God's word, you will at the least find it very, very interesting. I highly reccomend this book and when we meet our Father, it would not surprise me if this "Lost Chapter" is true after all.

Compelling and fascinating history worth the read

The historical information packed into this little book was worth the money spent on it. Fascinating to read this gives insight into the Apostle Paul and his life you won't get anywhere else. Is this really the "Lost Chapter of Acts"? I don't know. But the history Capt gives makes a compelling case. Names from the Bible come alive as never before. Take the time and read this little book.

Obviously Fake

E. Ramond Capt is an otherwise thorough and competent scholar, except for this book. The so-called Chapter 29 of Acts also fooled the late William Eugene Scott, PhD (from Stanford U). The manuscript is obviously a forgery written by British Israelite types who were overzealous to show a connection to the Celts and the Lost Tribes of Israel. I think there's enough evidence without having to defend this obvious fake. Here's the verses of this chapter I have a problem with: 29:13 "And it came to pass that certain of the Druids came unto Paul privately, and showed by their rites and ceremonies they were descended from the Jews [Judahites] which escaped from bondage in the land of Egypt, and the apostle believed these things, and he gave them the kiss of peace." Druids were NOT Jews! They were heathen Pagans who practiced divination with human entrails, worship of idols and trees, sorcery, and human sacrifice by such methods as burning people alive (The Wicker Man). If Paul saw these things and decided the Druids were Jews, he must have been really drunk! People who try to defend this manuscript will point out "It was found by a Frenchman", as though that made a difference, since the French are Celts too, and have perhaps an even stronger identification with the Druids than do the British. It's quite strange only one copy of this lost chapter has ever turned up at a time when British Israelism was at a peak. During the 19th century, there were spurious lost books turning up everywhere - The Book of Mormon, The Book of Abraham, the Gospel of Aradia...and all fakes. You can read the "lost" (i.e., forged) Chapter of Acts online for free, so don't waste your money.

Excellent overview of the period

It's been nearly half a century since I bought all the volumes then available of Frederick Copleston's "History of Philosophy." During this time, I've referred to it more than to any other survey of the history of philosophy. Not only is it complete, but it is also well balanced. Copleston does an excellent job of not allowing his own perspective to stand in the way of an objective description of the views of the philosophers he discusses. What is true of the other volumes is true of Volume 1, Part 1, which, not surprisingly, covers the philosophy of ancient Greece and Rome.

Copleston begins with a survey of the pre-socratic period, one which does an excellent job of spelling out the issues with which the early Greek philosophers wrestled, many of which continue to be debated by philosophers today. There follows a complete exposition of Socrates and Plato. (Aristotle, the Stoics, and the neo-platonists are covered in Part 2 of Volume 1.) In the end, one walks away from this volume with an excellent overview of this foundational period of philosophical thought.

Although written in a clear, lucid fashion, Copleston's writing is not superficial. In fact, to fully appreciate what he has to offer I would suggest that the philosophical novice find an introductory survey of the period, in order to gain some sort of general overview of the period. Then read Copleston. This will make for greater understanding. Of course, having read Copleston, the next step is to delve into the writings of the philosophers themselves.
