Hotwired for each other...
When Ross Dixon is kidnapped from his office, along with the sexy lawyer who'd been busting his balls over a deal that should have been a walk in the park, he wakes to find a devotion chip surgically implanted in his brain. If that isn't bad enough, the chip, designed to trigger emotional reactions between him and the woman lying next to him, is working overtime on his libido.
Mistaken for Ross's flavor of the month, Kayla Michaels, a 22nd century lawyer, doesn't have a problem spending time in Ross's bed--or over his desk--but she wants no part in the romantic feelings the chip is provoking. She's been down that road before and ended up burned.
Kayla and Ross struggle to find answers while coming to terms with the constant lust sizzling between them, but along the way each wonders if the emotions are real or just a side effect of being hotwired.

My Review:
Whoa, this book is hot! Neither Kayla nor Ross ever plans to become permanently involved with anyone, so it is a surprise and a shock when they wake up with a chip implanted in their brains which makes them only want each other. They barely know each other and what they do know about each other has been confrontational because they have been negotiating a contract.
Since both of these characters are sexual beings, they soon discover that they don't do well being apart for very long lengths of time. They're very upfront with each other about that and since they are trying to figure out who did this to them, with Kayla heading up the investigation, Kayla begins to work for Ross' company.
This was a really entertaining novel. It takes place in the future and, as such, has some sci fi elements to it, but none of it was over-the-top. The book was very readable. It also had an element of suspense because they are trying to figure out who set them up and I didn't ever figure it out until it was revealed. This is an erotica book so there is a whole lot of very hot and heavy sex, but it worked. I really loved the way that the author ended the book. It was still sexual, but the emotional was the important part that made the end just perfect.
It was hot. It was sexy. It definitely fulfilled it's goal as an entertaining read.

original
By The Book Reading Gals
Thoughts: For a romance with a little bit of s sci-fi/fantasy premise to it, I thought this was a really interesting and enjoyable read. At approximately 167 pages or so, it is a short read, and the author doesn’t hesitate to dive right in to the good stuff. Before we know it, our main characters are thrown right into the thick of things. The idea behind a ‘devotion chip’ to keep people faithful to one another was a great idea and enjoyed the path it took our characters down, but it also left a lot of questions that were unanswered. I know I would have liked to have learned a lot more and delved more into this world where technology can keep partners faithful to one another. The characters were interesting as well. As with most other short stories, I was left wanting more.
The book reminded me a bit of Laurann Doehner’s New Species series, mixed with a bit of Jocelyn Han’s Stardust series.

Sign Me Up For a Love Chip
By Reading Junkie
Not bad for a free read but I would've liked some more character development and a more realistic pace. The premise of a "love chip" was original and fresh. I also liked that the alpha-male wasn't written like a barbarian, like so many are nowadays, and that he had a sensitive side. As I said, the pace of the book was too fast for my tastes and I wished the book itself could've been fleshed out more. For $0 though (on Netgalley), I'd recommend it. If I had to pay over $3.00 for it? Maybe not.
