Will Danny tell Hermione the truth and do what he’s told himself he would never do: fall in love?
Between the Sheets, Book 2.
When Lady Hermione Spencer’s parents ask her to housesit their summer home in New Zealand while they have some landscaping work carried out, Hermione’s happy to agree. It’s the perfect opportunity to look for suitable hotels for her romantic retreats business back in the UK, plus it provides a temporary escape from the man she’s been betrothed to since she was a child. The Kiwi house in the Bay of Islands feels like a palace after her small London flat, and she does her best not to think about her impending marriage. Then the gardener arrives, and suddenly life’s not so simple anymore.
Unable to obtain a higher education because he looks after his disabled father, Danny Love has spent years developing his own landscaping firm. He supposes he should be resentful when the snooty daughter of the Spencers assumes he’s just one of the workmen, but all he can think about is her sexy curves and what fun it would be to seduce the lady of the manor. So he strings her along for a while, knowing that when she finds out the truth it’ll only make her embarrassment worse.
The sexual tension builds between them, and it’s not long before Hermione succumbs to his outrageous flirting. Danny plans to seduce her, but what he doesn’t realize is that beneath her little-rich-girl persona is a gentle innocence that’s going to captivate the man who had to grow up fast, and who’s always believed romance to be a capitalist creation.
Their lifestyles and backgrounds are world apart, but their differences only seem to draw them closer together. When faced with her inexperience and her genuine belief in true love, will Danny still seduce her and be happy with a quick fling? Or will he tell her the truth and do what he’s told himself he would never do: fall in love?
Warning: features a working man who’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. A hot & sultry romance.

From the Inside Flap
"I'm going to call you Your Royal Highness from now on."

"Oh, please don't."

"Okay, Your Grace."

A reluctant smile crept onto her lips. His eyes crinkled at the edges when he smiled. He really was very handsome. If she'd been a shop girl or a barmaid, he'd have been quite a catch.

He held her gaze, and the blush that had begun to cool in her cheeks rose again as heat flooded the rest of her body. This guy would have no concept of polite society, of dining in fine restaurants, or of going to the opera. He wouldn't read Shakespeare or poetry, and he would play console games involving car chases and machine guns, not tennis or croquet.

He'd expect sex on the first date, and she doubted he'd even heard of foreplay. His sultry eyes told her he was ready to drag her onto his lap, crush his lips to hers, and take her immediately, right there on the lawn.

But in spite of the voice in her head that insisted he wouldn't be able to find a woman's clitoris with a map, her heart told her he'd be amazing in bed.

No prizes for guessing what she would be dreaming about tonight.

Enthralling, charming, sensitive book. Danny is a great book boyfriend!

I was gifted this book in return for an honest review - all opinions are my own. I was not paid for my review.
From page one, this book immediately wisked me away to the beach in New Zealand, and I was thoroughly charmed by this wonderful contemporary romance. It is an "opposites attract" story, but the two people also have a lot in common. It was so refreshing to read a book that has characters who really talked to each other and communicated their hopes, dreams, and feelings! Like all of Ms. Woods' books, it was written in 3rd person alternating point of view, and we really get inside both of the main characters' heads and hear their thoughts. Another thing that the author does so well is depict friendships among people. Danny, the main male character, is friends with a bunch of people that appeared in previous books in the series. Their interactions are so warm, the conversations are realistic, and they really care about each other.
I love the main characters, Danny and Hermione. They are not perfect people, but they are honest, good people that treat others with respect. Danny is such an awesome, sexy hero. He is now one of my three favorite book boyfriends, and I hardly ever proclaim such a thing. He has had hard times in his life, but he keeps going and made himself successful in business. Women have let him down in the past, and he really deserves a chance at true love. Oh, Danny is so sexy! He owns a landscaping business, and he doesn't hesitate to get his hands dirty planting beautiful gardens. I also love his approach to dating/seducing Hermione for the first time: gardening shirtless in front of her, washing up, and then walking her to a perfectly prepared picnic on the beach next to her mansion!
The author is also extremely skilled at writing love scenes and kissing. Wonderful! I couldn't ask for a better love scene; every such scene has steaminess and emotional connection. I love this book!

interesting Dynamic
By JigsawGirl
I have to admit, it took me a while to warm up to Hermoine. I really didn't like her for party of the book. She was from a titled family, and she was extremely rude and condescending to Danny when she first met him. Danny had been working in her father's garden, and she assumed he was a gardener and not the owner of the landscaping company. Although she did later apologize, and was embarrassed, it still left a bad taste.
I warmed up to Hermione and begin to enjoy the relationship between them. Initially, there didn't seem to be much chemistry, but that also grew as the story moved along.
Hermione was engaged to someone she didn't love because their families expected it of them. Their estates were next to each other. For a while, I wasn't sure if I was reading a regency or historical romance. I thought it was kind of strange in this day and age, but I know nothing about royalty anyway.
I liked Danny's devotion and commitment to his father. I loved the descriptions of the area, the locals, and the camaraderie of the friends.
Overall, Danny and Hermione ended up being fun. Danny's response to Hermione's snobbery was entertaining. The hot, steamy romance wasn't too shabby either.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.”

Fun and steamy, if a bit shallow - a good read for a lazy afternoon
By Stephanie V
I'm a fan of this series, so it would have to go pretty far off the rails to be a disappointment for me. And this one stayed true to form, making it a quick and enjoyable read. Danny and Hermione are an unusual pair, but their romance is spicy and their whirlwind courtship is charming. Hermione is very unsympathetic as a heroine in the beginning, and I didn't think I'd warm up to her. She starts out as stiff and uptight, with dialogue that is stilted and awkward, but she eventually comes around and settles down to a more natural personality. By the end, I sympathized with her situation and wanted to see them together. The author excels at strong dialogue, sexy love scenes, and setting the stage in an exotic and lush locale. The supporting characters are well drawn enough so there isn't just a generic "group of friends" hanging around. It isn't really deep, and the ending is a little abrupt, but it's a fun book that I finished in about two days.
My main complaint is that it seems to be a retelling of "Lady Chatterly's Lover" - I say "seems to be" because that's a book which I have never read, and know almost nothing about. So a lot of the jokes and comparisons fell flat for me, because I didn't get the reference. I also find it hard to believe that a bunch of 20-somethings would have read that book either, so their joking about it as a group didn't work for me.
I liked it, but didn't love it, and overall I enjoyed it and remain a fan of this series. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated and all opinions are my own.
